Junior Audrey Sullivan scored two goals Friday against cross town rival Willamette, as the third-year Warrior has tallied four goals in two games this week to take the team lead with four goals this season.

Warriors Defeat D-III Cross Town Rival Willamette

SALEM, Ore. – Junior Audrey Sullivan scored two goals for the second straight game, as Corban's women's soccer team came-from-behind to defeat NCAA Division III member and cross town rival Willamette by two goals, 4-2, Friday at Sparks Field.

With the win, Corban remains perfect in 2012 with an overall record of 3-0-0. Meanwhile, Willamette opens its season at 0-1-0.

Sullivan added to her goal total for the week Friday, as she netted the game-tying goal in the 18th minute before adding an insurance goal in the 85th minute to bring her season total to four goals in three games.

Along with Sullivan, fellow junior Tera McDonough added her second goal of the season in the 47th minute before freshman Terrika Weaver scored the first goal of her collegiate career netting the eventual game-winner in the 59th minute. Senior Emily Tsugawa assisted on Sullivan's first goal for her team-high tying second assist of the season.

Willamette would get on the board first in the 13th minute when Corban scored an own goal, as the Bearcats' Hanna Burton struck a crossing pass that deflected off a Warrior defender and into the left corner of the goal for an early 1-0 lead.

Just over five minutes later, Sullivan would net the equalizer off a pass from Tsugawa at the 17:52 mark. The scoring play would begin with a pass from Tsugawa to Sullivan, who unleashed a shot from 15 yards out into the back of the net.

Neither team would score again in the opening half, as the game would be knotted at halftime with the score deadlocked at 1-1.

Just under two minutes into the second half, McDonough would unleash a direct kick from 32 yards out that bounced off Willamette's keeper and into the back of the net at the 46:54 mark for her second goal in two games.

Almost 12 minutes later, Weaver would tally her first collegiate goal when she rebounded a blocked shot from six yards out for the eventual game-winner at the 58:30 mark.

Willamette would pull within a single goal in the 63rd minute when a Corban defender was whistled for a foul in the box that awarded a penalty kick to the Bearcats, as Andrea Rowan converted the free kick making the score 3-2 in favor of the visiting Warriors.

Just over 24 minutes later, Sullivan would net her second goal of the game when she rebounded her own missed shot from 24 yards out at the 84:48 mark for the final tally of 4-2.

For the third game in a row, Corban would platoon its keepers giving the start to junior Alexis Beattie before sophomore Kaitlyn Mendenhall manned the goal for the final 45 minutes. Each keeper would allow a goal, while Mendenhall registered the Warriors' lone save on the night.

Willamette's Gina Barbieri would get the start for the Bearcats allowing three goals with a game-high five saves in just under 66 minutes of action, while Bearcat reserve Nicole Price would stand between the pipes for the final 24-plus minutes allowing a single goal to go along with three saves.

Overall, Corban would control the offensive flow registering 17 total shots versus Willamette's six. The Warriors would also tally nine more shots on goal (12-to-3), while Willamette earned three more corner kicks (6-to-3) than Corban.

Corban will continue its play against NCAA Division III opponents on Monday, September 3rd, against Puget Sound beginning at noon in Tacoma, Washington.
