BOX SCORE

ASHLAND, Ore. – Despite Friday's 77-60 loss to the NAIA's No. 21-ranked Raiders of Southern Oregon inside Bob Riehm Arena, Corban's men's basketball team clinched a spot in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament thanks to a loss by Northwest Christian against Oregon Tech.

Corban (9-17, 5-12 CCC) was led offensively by freshman Andrew Evans with a game-high 16 points, while junior Josiah Sebens and senior Dustin Moore added 12 and 10 points, respectively. Senior Jacob Kopra added six points and a team-high tying five rebounds, while freshman Cyrus Ward came off the Warriors' bench to pull down a team-high tying five rebounds to go along with assists by four different Warriors – Evans, Sebens, Moore, and senior Geoffrey Martin.

Southern Oregon (21-8, 12-5 CCC) clinched a home game in the opening round of the conference tournament thanks to a 15-point performance by Kyle Tedder, while three other Raiders – Eric Thompson, David Sturner, and Jeff Bush – also scored in double figures with 14, 14, and 13 points, respectively. Sturner would register a double-double thanks to a game-high 13 rebounds, while Biush handed out a game-high five assists for the Raiders.

Following back-to-back three-pointers by both teams to open the game, Southern Oregon used an 11-2 run over a span of five minutes to take the lead for good when Bush connected on a lay-in with 11:48 left to give the host Raiders a 14-5 lead. SOU would never relinquish its lead all night, as the Raiders push their advantage to 11 points (33-22) on a three-pointer by Tedder with 3:30 left. Corban would get as close as seven points (37-30) on a jumper by Sebens with 16 seconds left before Southern Oregon settled for a 39-30 lead at halftime.

Southern Oregon would begin the second half by increasing its lead to 14 points (55-41) on a lay-in by Sturner with 13:32 on the clock before the Raiders methodically increased their lead to a game-high 22 points (77-55) on a three-pointer by Salem-native Taylor Roos with just over two minutes left. Corban would score the game's final five points, but it was too little, too late for the Warriors as Southern Oregon took home the 17-point win (77-60).

On the night, Corban was a combined 22-for-61 (36.1%) from the field, 6-of-18 (33.3%) from beyond the three-point line, and 10-of-17 (58.8%) at the free throw line. On the other hand, Southern Oregon was a combined 31-of-56 (55.4%) from the field that included a 57.1% (16-for-28) showing in the second half, 10-of-23 (43.5%) from long distance, and 5-of-6 (83.3%) at the charity stripe.

Corban will close out the regular season tomorrow – Saturday, February 16th – against the Hustlin' Owls of Oregon Tech beginning at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Danny Miles Court in Klamath Falls.
