BOX SCORE

PORTLAND, Ore. – The duo of junior Josiah Sebens and senior Marcus Butler combined to score 33 points, as Corban's men's basketball team had its season come to an end with a 65-60 loss in the opening round of the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament to the NAIA's No. 12-ranked and top-seeded Warner Pacific Wednesday inside C.C. Perry Gymnasium.

Corban (9-19) was looking for the upset, as Sebens scored a team-high 17 points that included four three-pointers and Butler added 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field. No other Warrior scored in double figures, as senior Jacob Kopra chipped in with nine points and a team-high nine rebounds to go along with six points by freshman Cyrus Ward and a game-high eight assists by freshman Andrew Evans.

Warner Pacific (24-6), who came into tonight's game after capturing a share of the CCC regular season crown, was led by reigning NAIA Division II Player of the Week Stephen Harris with a game-high 18 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and six blocked shots. Jeremy Jones and Marcus Moore came off the Knights' bench to provide 14 and nine points, respectively, while Warner Pacific's bench combined to score 37 points in the win.

In the opening five minutes of the game, Corban came out on fire scoring eight of the first 10 points en route to building a six-point lead (8-2) on a Butler lay-in at the 15:07 mark. Over the next two-plus minutes, Warner Pacific would battle back to tie the game at 11-11 via a 9-3 run that concluded with a Moore three-pointer with 12:43 on the clock. Butler and Kopra would spark Corban to a 5-0 run over the next 77 seconds, as the visiting Warriors earned a 16-11 lead on a three-pointer by Kopra with 11:26 remaining. After Warner Pacific used a 12-2 run over the next five-plus minutes to go ahead 23-18, Corban scored eight unanswered points en route to earning a three-point advantage (26-23) on a three-pointer by Sebens with 4:18 left. Over the final four-plus minutes, Warner Pacific would use an 11-2 run en route to securing a six-point lead (34-28) at halftime.

The second half would begin with Corban scoring the opening six points en route to tying the game at 34-34 on a Butler lay-in with 16:45 on the clock. Warner Pacific would score the next four points before extending its lead to six points (44-38) on a Jones lay-in with 12:08 left in the game. Over the next three-plus minutes, Corban would pull within a single point on three different occasions with the final one coming via a lay-in by Ward that made the score 48-47 in favor of the host Knights with 8:32 remaining. Warner Pacific would go on a 9-2 run over the next three-plus minutes en route to earning an eight-point lead (57-49) on another three-pointer by Moore with just over five minutes left. Using its never-say-die attitude, Corban battled back to tie the game at 59-all thanks to a 10-2 run over the next four-in-a-half minutes when Foster tied the game on a lay-in with 1:24 on the clock. Unfortunately, Corban could not get over the hump as perfect 6-for-6 free throw shooting down the stretch and timely defense by Warner Pacific would help lead the Knights to a five-point win (65-60) and a spot in the CCC Tournament semifinals on Saturday.

As a team, Corban combined to shoot 24-for-59 (40.7%) from the field that included a 7-of-27 (25.9%) showing from beyond the three-point line and a 5-of-7 (71.4%) performance at the free throw line. On the other hand, Warner Pacific was a combined 25-of-60 (41.7%) from the field, 5-of-20 (25.0%) from long distance, and a perfect 10-for-10 at the charity stripe.

Corban will now towards the 2013-14 season, as the Warriors are expected to return all but four players from this season's roster.
