No. 6 College of Idaho Survives in Overtime at Corban

BOX SCORE SALEM, Ore. – A Joe Vaz three-point play put College of Idaho up for good with 1:49 remaining in overtime, as the No. 6-ranked 'Yotes escaped at Corban University, 80-75, in a Cascade Collegiate Conference thriller Saturday night.

Corban saw a 10-point advantage evaporate in the closing five minutes of regulation as College of Idaho used a 14-1 run to lead, 71-68, capped by a Sydney Donaldson free throw with under six seconds on the clock.  However, Jordan Carter went the length of the floor and canned a 3-pointer at the buzzer to rejuvenate the home crowd and send the game to overtime.

The Coyotes (23-5, 14-2 CCC) secured the regular season conference title with their 10th consecutive win.  Vaz was 8-for-10 from the floor and paced the visitors with 19 points, but College of Idaho shot a cool 36 percent (26-73) for the game.  Josh Wilson finished with 13 points and Demetrius Perkins nabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.  The Coyotes had 20 offensive rebounds and held the overall edge on the boards, 49-43.

Cyrus Ward finished with 21 points, on 8-of-11 shooting, and nine rebounds to lead the Warriors (6-19, 2-14 CCC) who suffered their second overtime defeat in three games.  Carter delivered 17 points and Toby Roth scored 16.  Corban shot 43 percent (28-65) on the night.

The Coyotes took an early three-point lead in the first half but Corban held the advantage for most of the period, leading by as many as eight points.  Josiah Sebens scored all of his 11 points in the first half as the Warriors went to the locker room on top, 38-35.

Corban travels to Portland to take on Warner Pacific in its next conference contest.  College of Idaho will host league rival Evergreen on Friday.
