Herzberg's Hot Hand Lifts Warriors Over Knights

BOX SCORE PORTLAND, Ore. – Freshman Caleb Herzberg exploded for 28 points as Corban University erased a 14-point second half deficit en route to a 70-66 triumph at Warner Pacific College.
 
Herzberg was 9-for-14 from the field and connected on 6-of-11 from long range as the Warriors (7-19, 3-14 CCC) put an end to a 13-game losing streak with their first win since December.  A triple by the 5-foot-10 guard put Corban on top 63-54 with just over two minutes remaining to cap a 29-6 burst over a 12-minute span.  The Warriors held on for the win having suffered two overtime defeats in the previous three games.
 
Jordan Carter also reached double figures for Corban scoring 14 points.  Toby Roth dished a game-high eight assists and Aaron Withe nabbed a team-high six rebounds.
 
Doug Thomas scored 17 points and Ryan Parks added 14 for Warner Pacific.  The Knights (14-14, 8-8 CCC) closed the first half with a 16-4 run and went to halftime leading 35-23.  Warner Pacific was on top 48-34 with 14 minutes remaining before Corban's rally.
 
Corban was solid from the field shooting 46 percent (25-54) overall and 41 percent (12-29) from beyond the arc.  Warner Pacific shot 41 percent (27-66) from the floor and connected on just 22 percent (8-36) from long range.
 
The Warriors host New Hope Christian College in a non-conference game on Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
