SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University women's basketball team embarks on a brand new season on Tuesday, February 24, with this new campaign having the stakes raised tremendously. The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Women's Basketball Tournament begins with a matchup between the third-seeded Warriors taking on the sixth-seeded Northwest Christian University Beacons.
Tuesday's matchup, set for a 7 p.m. tipoff at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center features two teams that split the 2014-15 regular-season series, and is also a rematch of Saturday night's contest in which the Beacons won by 10 points. The first time these two teams met back in December, it was a different story, as the Warriors won by 32 points in Eugene.
Tuesday's game will be a special 'White-Out' Night, with all Corban Warrior fans receiving a free Warrior 'White-Out' t-shirt with the price of admission. T-shirts will be given to all Warrior fans until they run out.
For all Corban students who received a 'White-Out' t-shirt at one of the previous 'White-Out' Athletic events this year, wear that t-shirt and receive free admission to the game. For Corban students who have not yet received a 'White-Out' t-shirt, admission will be just $2 with a complementary Warrior 'White-Out' t-shirt.

Corban enters Tuesday's game with a 17-13 overall record and an 11-7 mark in CCC play. Senior center Tara Van Weerdhuizen (Spokane, Wash.) leads the way for the Warriors, averaging 13.5 points-per-game to go along with 9.8 rebounds-per-contest. She also leads the Warriors with 102 blocks defensively. Junior guard Jade Lowery (Oregon City, Ore.) also provides the Navy and Gold with some offensive firepower, scoring 12.5 points-per-game, while also dishing out a team-best 101 total assists on the year.
Northwest Christian enters Tuesday's game with a 12-14 overall record and an 8-10 mark in CCC action. The Beacons are riding a bit of a hot streak, however, as they have won five of their last eight games, including Saturday's victory in Salem over the Warriors, 63-53. Melyssa Weber leads the way offensively for NCU, averaging 10.5 points-per-game to go along with 5.0 rebounds. On the season, the Beacons are just 4-8 when not playing on their home court. Additionally, NCU is definitely a second-half team, as they've scored 933 total second-half points throughout the campaign, while scoring just 760 points in the first half.
