Warrior Men’s Soccer Season-Opener vs. Trinity Lutheran Canceled

SALEM, Ore. – Corban University head men's soccer coach Aaron Lewis announced on Thursday morning that the Warriors' 2015 season-opening game vs. Trinity Lutheran College (Wash.) has been canceled due to lack of NAIA eligible players for the Trinity Lutheran team.

"Our players and staff are disappointed to not have an opportunity to play Trinity Lutheran this weekend," said Lewis. "Our culture strives to constantly seek ways to improve, and we were eager to put that into practice during a game setting this weekend. With that said, we will adjust to use this time wisely in our preparation towards next week's match vs. a national-tournament caliber opponent."

Trinity Lutheran College, an NAIA school from Everett, Wash., was deemed ineligible to play against Corban due to the team's lack of NAIA eligible players. Trinity Lutheran had to cancel all three of its games this week against Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) schools, as Southern Oregon University and Northwest Christian University were both set to play the Eagles as well.

Due to the late notice from Trinity Lutheran and lack of ability to field an eligible team to play against the Warriors, Corban is credited with a 1-0 forfeit win.

Corban's 2015 season-opener is now set for next Friday, August 28 vs. Embry-Riddle University (Ariz.). Both the Warriors and Embry-Riddle are receiving votes in the NAIA Men's Soccer National Top-25 Poll.
