GREAT FALLS, Mont. - Thanks to a total team effort on Friday in the wind, the Corban University women's soccer team registered a big road win over the University of Great Falls to begin its Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) season, winning 3-2. For Corban, the win could not have come at a better time following three-straight losses and at the start of a fresh campaign in conference action.

"It is always great to start the conference season with a win, and especially on the road," said head coach Marty Ziesemer. "I was pleased that we were able to get a goal early, especially going against a strong wind. It was a quality team effort with contributions from many different players. Sunday's game will be another challenge for us to continue improving and developing."
Corban got off to just the start it could have hoped for when freshman forward Lexi McQueary (Kennewick, Wash.) scored off an assist from sophomore forward Sadee Kallis (Yakima, Wash.) in the eighth minute of play. UGF tied things up just before the half, but Corban responded in a big way in the second stanza.
Senior midfielder Ashley Beykovsky (Gladstone, Ore.) made the most of her penalty-kick opportunity in the 50th minute after the Great Falls goalkeeper received a red card, burying her shot into the back of the net to put the Navy and Gold up 2-1. Beykovsky then made it 3-1 just four minutes later when she ripped a free kick into the goal, giving the Warriors some cushion.
Great Falls pulled a goal back in the 70th minute, the Corban was able to hold on in the 3-2 triumph. For the game, Corban outshot UGF, 13-10.
Corban (3-4, 1-0 CCC) returns to the field on Sunday morning when it takes on Carroll College in Helena, Mont. at 10 a.m. PST.
