"Today's game was probably the best we have played since the beginning of the season," said head coach Likius Hafeni. "We managed to win the game in the first half and it was great to score on set pieces."

Once the opening whistle blew, both teams took time to figure each other out, with play going back and forth. However, the Warriors struck first, with sophomore forward Lexi McQueary running up the right-hand side and scoring in the 15th minute, blasting it past the goalkeeper at a seemingly impossible angle. McQueary leads the Warriors with six goals on the 2016 season.

A few minutes later, Corban was fouled outside the 18-yard box on the right-hand side. Sophomore defender Emma Kosmala took the free-kick, placing it perfectly onto the head of junior forward Holly Martinez Moorman, who headed in the ball past the goalkeeper in the 26th minute.

However, Corban was not finished, when the referee signaled a foul outside the 18-yard box on the right-hand side in the 44th minute. What seemed like a mirror-image of the second goal, Kosmala placed the free-kick into the six-yard box, where sophomore midfielder Julia Agarkov controlled the pass off her chest and kicked the ball into the back of the net, extending the lead to 3-0.

In the first stanza, Corban outshot the Beacons seven to five.

The final score for the Warriors came in the 62nd minute from another well-executed set piece. Fouled about 40 yards from goal, freshman defender Nicolle Ohama swung her free-kick into the six-yard box. After a mishandle from the goalkeeper, and a scramble in front of the net, Martinez Moorman laced in her second goal of the night, extending the lead to a commanding 4-0.

In total for the match, Corban (7-5, 3-2 CCC) outshot Northwest Christian (4-7-1, 1-3-1 CCC) 15-9. McQueary and Martinez Moorman led the way for the Warriors with three shots apiece. Junior goalkeeper Sheyenne Brusven registered her third shutout on the 2016 campaign.

The Warriors head out to Idaho for a tough road trip next weekend, facing College of Idaho on Friday and Rocky Mountain College on Sunday. Both kickoffs are set for 2:30 p.m. PST.
