SALEM, Ore. – While riding a season-best .421 hitting percentage, the No. 22-ranked Corban University volleyball team dominated Northwest Christian University on Tuesday evening in straight sets (25-16, 25-17, 25-17). For the Warriors, the win was their 14th of the 2016 campaign, matching their 2015 win total.

"We passed well tonight which allowed us to be effective offensively," said Corban head coach Kim McLain. "I was also pleased to see how aggressive we were at the net both offensively and defensively."
In the first set, Corban hit for an astounding .562 clip while holding the Beacons to just a .194 mark in the comfortable set win. NCU jumped out in sets two and three and held leads midway through the periods, but the Warriors had a response in each of the sets, going on multiple runs to secure comeback victories in both set wins. After dipping down to a .290 hitting mark in set two, the Warriors jumped back up to hitting .406 in the final stanza en route to claiming the match.
Junior outside hitter Amber Parker led the way for the Warriors with 13 kills on a .400 hitting percentage, while junior middle blocker Alaina Gentili recorded 12 kills on a .455 hitting mark in the triumph. Also providing a big spark on the outside offensively was freshman Adriana Aguayo with nine kills and a .538 hitting percentage. Additionally, junior middle blocker Marandah Boeder recorded nine kills for Corban on a .562 hitting mark.
At the net, it was junior middle blocker Bethany Filipenko dominating all evening long, racking up four block assists and two solo blocks as a part of the team's eight total blocks in the victory. In addition, sophomore setter Madison McLain registered 41 assists for Corban in the resounding win, while junior libero Haley Wells racked up 16 digs for the Warriors.

For NCU (7-12, 5-8 CCC), Cassidy Winters totaled a team-best 10 kills, while Keri Schwarz and Taylor Burnett both provided eight kills on the evening. Defensively, Sydney Rothenbush recorded 15 digs for the Beacons, and Maci Beierle notched 29 assists.
With seven regular-season matches remaining, Corban (14-5, 10-3 CCC) returns to Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) action on Friday when it hosts Walla Walla University. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
