Pflaumer Scores 26 in Corban Women’s Basketball 75-53 Win over CSU-Maritime

VALLEJO, Calif. – With senior Maddey Pflaumer leading the way, the Corban University women's basketball team moved to 2-0 on the year with a resounding 75-53 triumph over Cal State University-Maritime. The Warriors dominated from start to finish, owning a sizeable lead throughout the road contest.

"It was another good day for our team," said Corban University head coach Michelle Skyles. "It was a tough match up today. Maritime really challenged us by how hard they played and their quickness. Our team kept playing hard and did a great job executing on the offensive end. We were able to establish the inside game today and it opened things up more for our outside game. I am proud of our team for their resiliency and getting another team win."

The Warriors outscored the Keelhaulers in each quarter, establishing the dominance from the start. After taking the five-point lead after the first stanza, Corban then extended the lead to 13 points at the halftime break.

In the second stanza, Corban didn't led up, continuing to outplay CSU-Maritime while stretching out its lead and maintaining a double-digit advantage.

Pflaumer was dominant all afternoon long, scoring 26 points on a 9-for-16 shooting effort from the floor. She also made seven free throws and hauled in 12 total boards to go along with two blocks. Also providing Corban with some offensive firepower was senior Payton Wilcox, as she scored 13 points to go with three assists.

Fellow senior Sadie Pilgeram chipped in with 11 points for the Navy and Gold, while junior Maci Benedict recorded a 10-point performance with seven assists.

As a team, Corban shot 42.2% from the field overall and 31.8% from downtown, nailing seven three-pointers on the afternoon. Defensively, the Warriors held CSU-Maritime to a 29.8% shooting effort, locking down en route to the victory.

The Warriors (2-0) take Sunday off before returning to the court on Monday evening in Redding against Simpson University. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
