SALEM, Ore. – The No. 6-ranked Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers played like the No. 6 team in the NAIA on Saturday night, defeating the No. 22-ranked Corban University volleyball team in straight sets (25-21, 25-11, 25-23) in the NAIA Network Match of the Week. The Mountaineers rode an efficient attack all evening long while playing stifling defense en route to their 19th-consecutive match win on the year.

"Tonight came down to a level of consistency," said Corban head coach Kim McLain. "We have to reduce our errors and stay aggressive and mentally sharp throughout the whole match!"
In the first set, the teams battled back and forth with great teamwork early on, and after junior Amber Parker registered a kill for Corban, the Warriors led, 8-6. EOU then used a 9-0 run to jump back in front and take a commanding lead. Corban was able to pull within one point on three occasions during that first set, including at 21-20, but then EOU closed out the set for the four-point win.
In the second stanza, EOU hit for a .429 clip offensively and held Corban to a -.032 hitting percentage en route to the 14-point set triumph. Then in the third and final stanza, EOU jumped out to a lead, but Corban responded and showed resiliency, not going down without a fight. Corban would claim a 14-12 lead, but EOU responded and eventually went in front 24-20. Still, however, the Warriors kept the match alive, staving off three match points. EOU won the match though on a Warrior hitting error, finishing off the evening.
Amanda Miller led the way for the Mountaineers with 16 kills, while Rachelle Chamberlain totaled 38 assists in the victory.
For Corban, Parker finished the night with 15 kills and seven digs, while sophomore Madison McLain dished out 32 assists in the defeat.
Eastern Oregon remains in first place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) standings now with a 19-1 overall record and a perfect 12-0 mark in CCC play.
Corban (13-5, 9-3 CCC) returns to the court on Tuesday when it hosts Northwest Christian University in another CCC match. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
