Warrior Women's Soccer Wins Fourth Straight in 3-0 Triumph at Rocky Mountain

BILLINGS, Mont. - A great overall team defensive effort and some fantastic finishing led the Corban University women's soccer team to its fourth-straight victory in Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) play as the Warriors down Rocky Mountain College on Sunday, 3-0.

"Today was all about getting three points," said Corban head coach Likius Hafeni. "We scored three great goals and we practiced these goals throughout the week. It was great to have six points on the road."

Corban jumped in front when freshman forward Annouscka Kordom finished off a beautiful passing sequence by the Warriors. After a ball was played wide in the eighth minute, Holly Martinez Moorman beat her defender and then played a ball back across the top of the 18-yard box to Kordom who calmly took a touch and buried her shot into the bottom-corner of the net to put the Warriors in front. For Kordom, it was her second goal in as many games.

Corban then started the second half out with a bang, as Martinez Moorman got on the end of a corner kick and blasted her header past the Battlin' Bears' goalkeeper to make it 2-0 in the 48th minute of play.

Just a minute later, Kordom served as the creator on a counter-attack, penetrating the Rocky Mountain defense and dishing off to sophomore forward Lexi McQueary. McQueary cut her defender with a nifty move, and then buried her shot into the back of the net, making it 3-0 for Corban.

That would be all the Warriors would need en route to the pivotal 3-0 triumph on the road in a key CCC match.

Corban outshot Rocky Mountain, 13-7, and defensively in goal, junior goalkeeper Sheyenne Brusven made four saves in the shutout victory.

Corban (9-5, 5-2 CCC) has a week off from CCC matches before returning home for the final four regular-season games of 2016. The Warriors are set to host Eastern Oregon University at 12 p.m. on October 21.
