"It was a solid team effort tonight and we were able to get contributions from everybody," said Corban head coach Austin Johnson. "It was a really good effort on the glass and we moved the ball well. We need to take better care of the basketball though as we had turnover issues early, but I know some of those were from us being too unselfish. We'll look to improve tomorrow."

While getting to the rim early, the Warriors pushed out in front and took an 18-4 lead following a steal and fast-break dunk from Samuel Adjei, capping off the solid start to the contest. Corban continued to pour it on offensively, and by the half, the Warriors had doubled the Eagles score, 52-26.

In the second stanza, it was more of the same, and the Warriors got hot from deep, hitting eight long-range efforts in the final 20 minutes en route to extending the lead and finishing off the comfortable non-conference win. On the night, Corban shot 49.4% overall from the field and 34.4% from downtown, making 11 three-pointers in all.

One of the keys to the game proved to by the glass, as Corban dominated inside with 68 boards to just 30 for Northwest Indian. In addition, the Warriors racked up 25 assists in the win, sharing the ball all evening long.

Individually, Joel Johnson led the way with 16 points on a 6-for-7 shooting effort, while six other players also scored in double figures. AJ Monterossi went 6-for-9 from the floor for 12 points, while Chris Martin also totaled 12 points for the Navy and Gold. In addition, Mike Seng came off the bench and provided a nice spark for Corban, scoring 11 points with a trio of shots made from downtown.

After the contest, Seng talked about the victory in a post-game interview:

For Northwest Indian, Christian Nickerson scored a team-high 15 points in the defeat.

Corban (6-3) returns to the hardwood tomorrow when it hosts Northwest Indian College once again in the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
