Corban Women’s Basketball Ready for Rematch in CCC Tournament Quarterfinal

SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University women's basketball team will compete in the 2016 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament Quarterfinals on Tuesday night, and this year's Warrior team will be looking to reverse last year's result against a familiar opponent in what will be the biggest game of the year for both teams to this point. No. 5-seeded Corban travels to Eugene on Tuesday evening for a win-or-go-home game against No. 4-seeded Northwest Christian University.

This matchup between the two schools separated by only an hour's drive on the I-5 corridor has become an exciting rivalry over the last two years. Tuesday's game is a rematch of last year's CCC Tournament quarterfinal in which the Warriors came up on the short end of the stick, losing to the Beacons 60-59. Then again in the first time these two teams met this year, it took last second shots and overtime for NCU to defeat Corban, winning 68-65 in Salem back in December. The Warriors did however get a bit of revenge a little less than a month ago via a one-point victory down in Eugene to earn the regular-season series split.

Now, all the marbles are on the table for Tuesday night's clash between the Warriors and the Beacons, with both teams knowing that if they do not win, it will mark the end of their 2015-16 campaign.

Corban enters the game with a 16-13 overall record and an 11-9 record in CCC play. Northwest Christian boasts an 18-11 overall record with a 13-7 mark in CCC action. Both teams enter Tuesday night's contest losers of two-straight games after both dropping both contests over the weekend. Corban owns an 8-7 record in road games on the year, while NCU comes into Tuesday with a 9-6 record in games played at home.

Leading the way offensively for the Warriors is senior guard Jade Lowery (Oregon City, Ore.) with a 17.2 ppg average, while fellow senior guard Julia Young (Snohomish, Wash.) averages 12.8 ppg for Corban. In addition, junior forward Sadie Pilgeram (Helena, Mont.) enters Tuesday's contest averaging 12.7 ppg and 8.7 rpg.

For NCU, it is Niki Duncan who leads the way, scoring 12.2 ppg, while Monique Thompson scores 9.9 ppg. In addition, Andrea Glass and Hanna Mack average 9.5 ppg and 9.2 ppg, respectively.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Morse Event Center in Eugene, Ore. Live stats and live video will be available.
