OLYMPIA, Wash. – Thanks to a great team effort, and a season-best .333 attacking percentage, the No. 24-ranked Corban University volleyball team rolled past the Evergreen State College on Friday evening in straight sets (25-20, 25-20, 25-14). This is Corban's fifth victory out of seven Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) matches in the 2016 season.
"It was great to see the team come out with high intensity from the first whistle," said Corban head coach Kim McLain. "We have been struggling with starting the matches strong, but we turned that around tonight and lead all three sets."
The Warriors totaled for a .333 attacking percentage on the contest, hitting for an outstanding .471 mark in the first set, dipping in the second stanza at .262, but then resiliently finishing the match with a .286 mark in the final set.
All evening long, Corban was a force offensively, registering a remarkable 50 kills. Junior Amber Parker led the way for the Warriors with 15 kills, while rookie Adriana Aguayo provided Corban with 11 kills, hitting for an impressive .611 percentage. Junior Alaina Gentili was the third out of three Warriors registering double-figure kills, hammering in 10 kills for Corban.
Defensively, junior Haley Wells notched a team-best 17 digs on the match, with sophomore Madison McLain and freshman Lauren Condon chipping in nine digs apiece. In addition, it was also McLain dishing out the assists, notching 38 assists for the match.
Corban (9-4, 5-2 CCC) returns to action tomorrow night, as they face No. 20 Northwest University in Kirkland, Wash. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
