KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Corban University women's soccer team bounced back on Saturday with a big Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) victory on the road, downing Oregon Tech, 2-1. The victory brings Corban to .500 after two weeks of CCC action.
"We worked very hard, came out strong, and bounced back after a difficult loss," said Corban head coach Likius Hafeni. "It was a much needed win and a boost of confidence!"
Warrior senior forward Randi Donahue gave the Warriors the lead in the 26th minute of play when she dribbled past the Oregon Tech goalkeeper and put the ball in the back of the net.
By the half, the score remained 1-0 in Corban's favor, but Oregon Tech responded with a goal of its own in the 64th minute to tie the contest at 1-1.
Immediately, however, Corban provided a big answer, as Donahue crossed a ball into the mixer, and sophomore forward Lexi McQueary headed the ball over the top of the goalkeeper and into the goal for Corban's second goal of the afternoon. The goal was a big one, as it would stand as the game-winning score for the Navy and Gold, earning the full three points on the road.
Corban (6-5, 2-2 CCC) outshot the Owls (2-6-1, 0-1-1 CCC) on the afternoon, 17-16, and boasted a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks. A trio of Corban players tallied three shots in the game, as McQueary along with Annouscka Kordom and Holly Martinez Moorman all recorded three each. Donahue finished the contest with four shots for the Warriors to lead the way.
The Warriors are back in action next Saturday afternoon when they host Northwest Christian University at Warrior Field. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
