Warrior Women’s Soccer Celebrates Senior Night with 2-1 Victory over C of I

"I am very proud of the way the team played tonight," said Corban head coach Likius Hafeni. "We played a team that is good defensively, and we knew that we had to break them down in order to get the result. We created a lot of opportunities and we needed to take a lot of risks in the final third in order to get the three points. I am very happy that we managed to get a win on senior night and I am proud of all of the seniors and what they have done for the program."

Prior to the match, Corban honored Alanna Lavoie, Kaci Larick, Ali Oatridge, Holly Martinez Moorman, Taylor McLaughlin, Marissa Telarroja, and Sheyenne Brusven in the Senior Night ceremony.

Oatridge put the Warriors in front on a cracking strike off the crossbar that bounced in in the 16th minute of play, making it 1-0.

The Yotes provided the immediate response, however, as Emma Powley ripped in a volleyball just a minute later off an assist from Hailey Woods.

In the second half, Lexi McQueary pushed forward, beat a trio of defenders, and then blasted a left-footed shot into the bottom-right corner in the 58th minute, putting the Warriors up for good.

The goal from McQueary would prove to be the game-winner for the Warriors, as Corban finished with 18 shots and C of I with 10.

The win was a big one for the Navy and Gold, as it keeps Corban in second place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings with just two matches in the regular season to play for the Warriors.

Corban (9-5-1, 6-2-1 CCC) returns to the pitch in two weeks when it travels to Warner Pacific College and Eastern Oregon University on October 27-28.
