No. 12 Corban Volleyball Sweeps Multnomah for Fifth-Straight Victory

SALEM, Ore. – The No. 12-ranked Corban University volleyball team used an efficient attack all evening long en route to dominating Multnomah University in straight sets (25-16, 25-18, 25-11) on the way to its fifth-straight triumph in Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) play. The victory gives the Warriors the season sweep of the Lions.

"It was great to see our team playing well tonight," said Corban head coach Kim McLain, "bringing momentum into the second half of the season."

Corban swung at a 407 clip on the evening, highlighted by a .593 hitting mark in the third and clinching set. In that final stanza, the Warriors swung for 17 kills while making only one error offensively. Defensively on the night, Corban held the Lions to a .109 hitting mark overall, and just a .061 attacking percentage in the final set of the evening.

Alaina Gentili remained red hot for the Warriors, racking up a team-best 15 kills on just two errors, hitting at a .520 clip offensively. In addition, she displayed her dominance at the net, registering one solo block and three block assists as a part of Corban's seven total team blocks.

Also hitting well on the night were Adriana Aguayo and Amber Parker, as Aguayo notched 11 kills while Parker recorded eight. In addition, Demi Winter proved to be very effective with each swing she took, totaling six kills on nine attacks for a .667 attacking mark.

Keeping the offense rolling all night was Madison Milligan with 20 assists to go with five digs, while Cierra Leopoldino recorded 16 assists and six digs. Defensively for the Navy and Gold, Haley Wells racked up a team-high 12 digs in the triumph. Moreover, Bethany Filipenko notched a team-best four block assists.

For Multnomah, Betty Batoon recorded a team-high eight kills, while Marissa Rhodes notched 16 assists in the defeat.

Corban (15-6, 10-2 CCC) returns to the court tomorrow when it hosts Warner Pacific College. First serve is slated for 5 p.m. in the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
