KIRKLAND, Wash. – The (RV) Corban University men's basketball team got off to a really slow start on Friday night, and ultimately the Warriors were unable to come back from a 20-point deficit in a 83-73 defeat against Grace Bible College.
"Tonight was a good experience for our guys," said Corban head coach Austin Johnson. "Grace has a very experienced and skilled team that we weren't able to match in regards to intensity and toughness. We will need to be much better tomorrow in all aspects."
Corban began the game cold from the field, while Grace Bible scored efficiently. Down 20 at the half, the Warriors poured on the offense in the second stanza in hopes of getting back into it, but it was too little too late, resulting in the 10-point loss.
Corban shot just 35.6% from the field and only 32.3% from downtown on the night.
Chris Martin led the way with 20 points, while Jake Love added 14 points and Joel Johnson tallied 11.
The Warriors were out-rebounded on the evening, 52-40.
Corban (1-1) returns to action tomorrow at 3 p.m. when it takes on Vancouver Island University in Kirkland in the second contest of the Taylor Cliett Invitational.
