Bozett Leads Corban Women’s Basketball to 76-38 Triumph over Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Maci Bozett led the Corban University women's basketball team to a key road win on Saturday night at Walla Walla University, helping the Warriors triumph over the Wolves in dominant fashion, 76-38. For the Warriors, it marked their first win of Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) play during the 2017-18 campaign.

"It was good to get back in the win column tonight," said Corban head coach Michelle Skyles. "We did some really good things, especially in the second half. We were more patient on offense and put more pressure on them defensively. Maci shot lights out and had a great line across the board. Overall every girl brought something positive to help in the win."

Corban took control of the game by the end of the first quarter and led, 22-11. The advantage was extended to 15 points by the halftime break, and Corban never looked back from there, scoring 20 more points in both the third and fourth quarters en route to doubling Walla Walla's scoring output on the evening.

Bozett, who came off the bench, led the way and caught fire offensively, scoring 19 points while going 5-for-7 from downtown and 4-for-4 from the charity stripe. She also grabbed four boards and dished out four assists in the win. Emily Yost was dominant down low, scoring 11 points to go with a team-leading 10 rebounds, while Hannah Shore also hit double-figures with 11 points for the Navy and Gold. Moreover, Bri Turner and Jordan Rasberry both tallied nine points, with Turner hauling in nine boards as well.

As a team, Corban shot 45.6% from the floor overall and 47.6% from deep. Defensively the Warriors held the Wolves to just a 23.1% shooting mark overall and forced Walla Walla into 17 turnovers.

Corban (3-4, 1-1 CCC) will play Walla Walla again tomorrow to close out the weekend with another conference contest. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m.
