PORTLAND, Ore. – The No. 9-ranked Corban University volleyball team swept Warner Pacific College on Friday evening (25-16, 25-14, 25-17) on the road, capturing the victory in the 2017 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) opener. For the Warriors, it marked their fifth-straight triumph overall during the campaign.
"It was great to get a first conference win under our belt," said Corban head coach Kim McLain. "We must continue to work on the little things in order to move forward in this tough conference!"
The dominant performance from the Warriors was highlighted by a season-best .427 attack percentage as a team, including a .682 hitting mark in the second set. Corban also out-performed Warner Pacific at the net, totaling seven total blocks to just one for the Knights (0-1).
Corban maintained control throughout the evening, and the combination of Cierra Leopoldino and Madison McLain kept the offensive moving quickly with quality sets. Leopoldino led the way with 17 assists, while McLain totaled 14.
Offensively, Adriana Aguayo racked up a team-best 12 kills, while Amber Parker tallied 10 and Alaina Gentili chipped in eight. Defensively, Marandah Boeder recorded a team-high four blocks, while both Demi Winters and Alaina Gentili recorded three apiece.
Corban (6-4, 1-0 CCC) returns to the hardwood tomorrow night in Portland when it takes on Multnomah University. First serve is slated for 5 p.m.
