Oatridge Brace Lifts Warrior Women’s Soccer to 4-2 Triumph at Evergreen

OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Corban University women's soccer team came from behind to register a critical early-season Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) victory on Friday on the road, defeating The Evergreen State College, 4-2. For the Warriors, it marks their fourth road win of the 2017 season.

"It was a great win today," said Corban head coach Likius Hafeni. "We stuck to our tactics, and even though we conceded in the first few minutes, we still managed to come back and win the game comfortably. It was a great team performance, and we are looking forward to our game against Northwest University tomorrow."

The match certainly did not start how the Warriors planned to have it start, as inside of the first minute, Corban conceded a goal off a free kick, falling behind 1-0.

The response from Corban was outstanding, however, as the Warriors went right down the pitch the other way, ripping shot after shot until eventually Ali Oatridge found the back of the net in the seventh minute of play off an assist from Annouscka Kordom, leveling the contest at 1-1.

Corban took the lead in the 28th minute of action when Lexi McQueary combined with Oatridge on a beautiful give-and-go play, and McQueary buried her shot into the back of the net to make it a 2-1 lead.

Just five minutes later, Oatridge scored her second of the contest off an assist from Julia Kashubin, putting the Navy and Gold up 3-1 at the halftime break.

During the first 45 minutes, Corban outshot Evergreen, 14-2.

In the second half, Kashubin piled it on with a goal off of an assist from McQueary, putting the game well out of reach and securing the victory for the Warriors.

Corban finished the match with 25 shots to just seven for Evergreen, while the Warriors also held the corner-kick edge, 12-1.

Corban (4-3, 1-0 CCC) returns to the pitch tomorrow at 1 p.m. to take on Northwest University up in Kirkland. Live stats and live video will be available here.
