No. 16 Warrior Volleyball Blows Past Wolves in Straight Sets

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The No. 16-ranked Corban University volleyball team closed out its three-match road trip on Sunday, sweeping Walla Walla University in dominating fashion (25-18, 25-14, 25-23). The win gives Corban the season sweep of Walla Walla.

"It is always great to get another CCC win under our belt," said Corban head coach Kim McLain. "Walla Walla was very scrappy and we had to stay focused and play aggressive throughout the whole match!"

After a bit of a slow start in the first stanza, the Warriors closed the set with a furious rally, leading to the seven-point set-one win.

In the second set, Corban squashed any hopes the Wolves had in the match, dominating in the 25-14 triumph.

The Warriors then closed out the match in the final set, winning by two points.

As a team, the Warriors swung for a .235 mark, led by the very efficient .357 hitting percentage in the first stanza. In the final set, the Warriors racked up a match-best 19 kills in the narrow two-point victory. Defensively, the Navy and Gold locked down, holding the Wolves to .067 attacking percentage for the match.

Corban utilized a solid all-around team effort in the triumph, with Alaina Gentili racking up a team-best 16 kills and Amber Parker tallying 11 kills. Defensively, the trio of Lauren Condon, Haley Wells, and Kasey Calderon each performed valiantly, with Condon notching 15 digs, Wells 12 digs, and Calderon eight digs.

At the net, Gentili proved to be dominant once again with five block assists and two solo blocks. Madison Milligan dished out a team-best 25 assists, while Cierra Leopoldino recorded 23 assists.

The Warriors (12-6, 7-2 CCC) return home next Friday and Saturday for Corban Weekend, hosting Oregon Tech on Friday and Southern Oregon University on Saturday.
