SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University women's basketball team tied the game late in regulation to force an overtime period on Saturday night, but College of Idaho pushed through for the triumph in the extra stanza, winning 58-53.
"We have to find a way to get back to the team we've been," said Corban head coach Michelle Skyles. "I am proud of Kendra for how well she played again and Treasure's passing was great. This league is too tough to not show up ready to execute and finish."
After a slow first three quarters for both teams offensively, fast forward to the fourth quarter with College of Idaho up by two points. Corban's Jordan Woodvine drove the lane and made a nifty layup to tie the contest with seven seconds remaining, forcing overtime.
In the overtime, however, it was College of Idaho's Keahi-lele Roy who took over, making big basket after big basket, resulting in the five-point triumph for the Yotes.
In the win, Roy finished with 13 points, while it was Jocelyn Cook-Cox who totaled a team-best 16 points. As a team, the Yotes shot 33.3% overall.
Corban finished with just one player in double-figures, with Woodvine tallying 12 points in her first game back in almost a month. She also nabbed eight boards in the defeat. The Warriors shot just 31.7% from the floor, but did hold a significant rebounding edge over the Yotes, 52-36.
The loss marks the fourth-straight for Corban, while the win gives the Yotes the season split with the Navy and Gold.
Corban (9-11, 5-8 CCC) returns to the hardwood next week on the road at Evergreen and Northwest on Friday and Saturday, with tipoffs both nights slated for 5:30 p.m.
