Incredible Finish Caps Corban Women’s Basketball’s Comeback Win, 66-64

OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Corban University women's basketball team showed incredible grit and determination on Friday evening, earning a hard-fought road victory over the Evergreen State Geoducks, 66-64. The contest came down to the final seconds, with Hannah Shore delivering the clutch go-ahead basket in the final moments.

"We played well at times, but once we were down, our girls were able to fight to get back in the game," said head coach Michelle Skyles. "We changed up defenses and were able to get some key stops, huge rebounds, and hit some big shots down the stretch."

The Warriors trailed for the majority of the game, falling behind early and trailing by as much as 12 in the second half. Not to go down quietly, the Navy and Gold slowly began chipping away at the Geoduck lead throughout the fourth quarter. Down by one with 0.8 seconds left on the clock, Hannah Shore delivered the game-winning bucket off a beautiful pass from Jordan Woodvine.

"The last minute was quite exciting, and I'm so proud of the girls for executing the play with 0.8 seconds left on the clock," said Skyles. "Hannah made an incredible cut, and Jordan Woodvine's pass was right on point. It was the most exciting finish I have seen in my two years here. I was so proud of the girls for how they were persistent and never gave up."

For Corban, Jordan Woodvine (26 points, five assists, five rebounds, three steals) led the charge offensively with a standout individual performance. Kendra Murphy dominated at the glass, racking up a team-best 13 boards to go alongside six points.

As a team, the Warriors shot 36.9% from the field, and 28.6% from beyond the arc. Corban won the battle in the paint, out-rebounding their opponent 50-30 in the triumph.

Evergreen was led by Jahpera McEachin, who notched a team-leading 13 points on four rebounds and three assists. Cayla Jones also proved invaluable for the Geoducks, finishing with 11 points, four assists, and three boards.

On the evening, Evergreen (9-9, 7-7 CCC) shot 40.4% from the field, while maintaining a 33.3% clip from downtown.

The Warriors (10-11, 6-8 CCC) will return to action tomorrow, as they will travel north to take on Northwest University in another Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
