BILLINGS, Mont. – The Corban University women soccer team scored first on Friday on the road, but the Warriors ultimately fell against Rocky Mountain College (Mont.), 2-1.
"We had a very tough loss," said Corban head coach Likius Hafeni. "We started well and scored first, but then we struggled towards the end of the first half when we conceded a second goal before halftime. We will look to bounce back on Sunday."
Rylee MacDonald found the back of the net in the first stanza off an assist from Kayla Sorrick, giving the Navy and Gold exactly the start it was looking for.
Rocky Mountain equalized in the first half, however, and then found a second goal to give the Battlin' Bears the lead and momentum heading into the halftime break.
In the second half, Corban pressed in search of the tying goal, but despite a valiant effort, the Warriors came up short.
Corban (7-6, 4-4 CCC) returns to the pitch on Sunday when it takes on the College of Idaho. Kickoff on Sunday is slated for a 12 p.m. MT start.
