EUGENE, Ore. – For the first time since 2010, the (RV) Corban University volleyball team has defeated Northwest Christian University on the road in Eugene, winning a five-set thriller on Wednesday night in comeback fashion (25-18, 15-25, 23-25, 25-19, 15-12). The victory gives Corban the season sweep of NCU, winning both at home and on the road against the Beacons in 2018.
"I am very proud of the team tonight! This win was a complete team effort," said Corban head coach Kim McLain. "It is always great to see them fighting and never giving up!"
The Navy and Gold started the evening out strong with a seven-point win in the opening stanza, but stumbled in the next two sets, putting the Warriors in a bit of a predicament. Corban responded, however, downing NCU in the fourth by six points.
In the back-and-forth fifth and final stanza, NCU took a 12-10 lead, but after a timeout, the Warriors rattled off five-consecutive points to claim the exciting triumph.
Lauren Condon was absolutely outstanding all the way around for the Warriors in the win, racking up a team-best 28 digs while totaling a team-leading 13 kills. In addition defensively, Kealani Ontai totaled 27 digs, while Madison Pfaff recorded 13.
