Corban Women’s Basketball Claims Exhibition Win against Vancouver Island, 82-76

NANAIMO, B.C. – The Corban University women's basketball team took the court for an exhibition contest against Vancouver Island University on Saturday evening, earning a 82-76 victory over the Mariners in the Warriors' final tune-up before the team's official season-opener tomorrow.

"This game was a great early test for us," said head coach Bill Pilgeram. "Both teams competed very hard, and the game came down to crunch time. I was very pleased with the passion we played with, the depth we showed by playing a lot of players, and how the team reacted to adversity throughout the game."

Corban's reigning All-Conference tandem of Emily Yost (21 points) and Jordan Woodvine (19 points) led the way for the Warriors in the triumph; however, complete stats from the exhibition are not available.

The Warriors will officially begin their 2018-19 season tomorrow when they take on Vancouver Island again, this time in a counting contest. Tip-off in Nanaimo, B.C. is scheduled for 11:30 p.m.
