Corban Women’s Basketball Falters at Montana Western

DILLON, Mont. – The Corban University women's basketball struggled to find its offensive rhythm on Friday, ultimately dropping a road contest at NAIA Division I foe, the University of Montana-Western, 88-38.

"This was a good game for us to play this time of the season," said Corban head coach Bill Pilgeram. "We played a very solid, experienced team which exposed some weaknesses that we need to address moving forward. We struggled to execute and score offensively, which we will learn from and be ready on Sunday."

While shooting 31.3% on the evening, Corban managed to score just three points in the first quarter, but did show improvement in quarter two with 13 points. While the Navy and Gold went on to score 14 points in the third, the squad scored just eight in the fourth. Throughout that time, Montana Western put up more than 20 points in three of the four quarters, resulting in the lopsided result.

Emily Yost led the way with 11 points on a 5-for-9 shooting mark to go with six boards. Yost finished as the only Warrior in double-figures offensively, and as a team, Corban turned the ball over 23 times.

Corban (3-1) returns to the court on Sunday when it takes on Carroll College (Mont.). Tipoff is slated for 11 a.m. PT.
