No. 22 Warrior Volleyball Falls to No. 10 SOU in CCC Semis

ASHLAND, Ore. – The No. 22-ranked and fourth-seeded Corban University volleyball team was unable to upset No. 10-ranked Southern Oregon University on Friday night in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament semifinals, falling in straight sets against the Raiders (25-14, 25-17, 25-22). The loss means Corban must now wait until Monday to see if it will receive an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament.

"We came out a little tight, causing us to make too many unforced errors," said Corban head coach Kim McLain. "It came down to the attention to detail. We learned a lot about ourselves and look forward to Monday and the national selections."

Corban was really not able to find its rhythm against the Raiders as it had last week when it hosted SOU in Salem, as the Raiders did a very good job on Friday night of denying Corban at the net while also making a number of great defensive diving plays.

Offensively, Corban hit at just a .047 mark, and that ultimately doomed the Navy and Gold, as SOU hit at just a .163 percentage on the evening.

The Warriors were led by Demi Winters and Cassie Cunningham who both recorded eight kills, while Adriana Aguayo added in seven. Jadyn Mullen dished out 17 assists to lead the way, while Cierra Leopoldino totaled 14 assists for the Navy and Gold.

Defensively, Kealani Ontai tallied a team-best 18 digs in the defeat.

Corban (20-11) now must await the announcement from the NAIA when it releases the complete tournament field for the NAIA National Championships to see if the Warriors will receive an at-large bid. The announcement will come at 8 a.m. on Monday, November 12. CLICK HERE to watch the live announcement.
