"We are looking forward to a great track season in 2019, and our goal is to improve on our third- (women) and fourth-place (men) finishes at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships (CCC)," said Berney. "The new class of men and women add to a strong class of returning athletes. For the first time in the history of Corban XC/Track and Field, we have a youth national champion (heptathlon) on our team, and we have Christian Bohuslavizki (national competitor) returning after a year off due to injuries. Our combined teams have over 65 people set to compete and God has blessed us with some great student-athletes.
The Warriors begin the year in late January just five minutes from campus at the Cascade Half Marathon, with some Warrior distance runners competing in the early-season race. Competition for the rest of the squad begins on March 2 at the Willamette Opener across town at McCulloch Stadium, and then continues a week later in Gresham at the Saints Invitational.
A number of different invites and meets lead up to the CCC Multi-Event Championships (La Grande, Ore.) in mid-April, before eventually, the Warriors will compete at the CCC Championships in mid-May, slated to take place in Ashland, Ore., at Southern Oregon University.
Those that hit NAIA 'A' standards throughout the 2019 campaign will qualify for the NAIA National Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala., set for May 23-25.
