Duchesneau Added to Corban Athletics’ Sports Medicine Staff as Assistant Athletic Trainer

SALEM, Ore. – Corban University director of athletics Bill Pilgeram has announced the addition of Gabe Duchesneau to the Warrior athletic department ahead of the 2026-27 academic year, as Duchesneau will provide vital depth to the Warriors' sports medicine staff as an assistant athletic trainer who will serve the 300+ student-athletes competing in the navy and gold threads.

"We are excited to have Gabe join our Corban sports medicine team," shared Corban head athletic trainer Jenny Garrard. "He is bringing an excitement to start his athletic training career with Warrior Athletics where he can share his faith as well as his passion for rehab and athlete care with our student-athletes. He is going to be a great part of our program and I'm looking forward to seeing his career develop with us!"

Duchesneau arrives in Salem after completing his Master of Science in Athletic Training at Eastern Washington University earlier this month, where he developed a strong clinical foundation through hands-on experience in NCAA Division I, junior college, and secondary school settings. His rotation work included time with Eastern Washington's football, women's soccer, and track & field programs, as well as an extensive multi-sport assignment at North Idaho College where he provided coverage for wrestling, basketball, softball, soccer, and volleyball student-athletes.

While at North Idaho College, Duchesneau gained significant experience working within a highly competitive wrestling program, helping manage both acute and chronic injuries while contributing to rehabilitation planning and return-to-play decisions. His work emphasized a balance between student-athlete performance and long-term health outcomes, demonstrated through his involvement in successful injury management cases that allowed student-athletes to continue competing at a high level.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Duchesneau collaborated closely with athletic trainers, physicians, coaches, and strength and conditioning staff to ensure coordinated care across all aspects of student-athlete health. His primary experience includes injury evaluation, therapeutic modalities, rehabilitation programming, concussion management, practice and competition coverage, and emergency response readiness.

"Starting my athletic training career here at Corban University is an incredible blessing, and I'm grateful to become part of this community," Duchesneau stated when asked about joining the Corban sports medicine staff. "I'm excited to hit the ground running and get to work!"

Duchesneau has successfully passed the Board of Certification (BOC) exam and earned his licensure within the state of Oregon, equipping him with the credentials necessary to contribute immediately to Corban's sports medicine operations. He will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to Warrior student-athletes, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation, while assisting with daily athletic training room operations and event coverage.

A former collegiate wrestler himself, Duchesneau brings a unique perspective to his role, having firsthand experience navigating the physical and mental demands placed on student-athletes. He remains active in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, further strengthening his understanding of high-performance environments and injury prevention strategies. His personal athletic background helps inform his approach to care, emphasizing trust, communication, and individualized treatment plans. Additionally, he enjoys disc golfing and snowboarding during his recreational opportunities.

As Duchesneau steps into his new role, he joins a Corban Athletics department committed to developing student-athletes who excel in competition while growing spiritually, academically, and athletically. Once the 2026-27 school year officially kicks off later this summer, he will serve as the primary contact for the department's men's soccer, men's wrestling, and baseball programs while providing secondary support to the remaining 13 varsity sports that Corban sponsors.
