Woodvine Scores 26 as Corban Women’s Basketball Edges Eagles, 79-66

KIRKLAND, Wash. – Leading for much of the contest on Saturday, it took a late push and timely buckets to hold off a feisty Northwest University squad, as ultimately the Corban University women's basketball team defeated the Eagles, 79-66. In the road win, Jordan Woodvine poured in 26 points in a standout effort.

"I thought the team did a very good job of playing through runs and adversity all game long," said Corban head coach Bill Pilgeram. "We had some stretches where momentum could have gotten away, but we were able to get it back!"

Picking up right where it had left off in its win over Linfield before the Christmas break, Corban exploded for 24 points in the first quarter and held a commanding 24-13 lead. The Eagles cut into the deficit, however, and trailed by just six points at the break.

It was a five-point contest headed to the fourth, but the Warriors held on down the stretch with some clutch shooting and strong defense to secure the double-digit road triumph.

Woodvine finished the night shooting 11-for-19 overall for her 26 points to go with four boards, three assists, and three blocks. Yost totaled 17 points on another efficient 5-for-11 shooting mark while also hauling in seven rebounds, while Treasure Farmer finished in double-digits with 13 points to go with seven boards. Additionally, Bri Turner proved crucial down low off the bench, recording nine important rebounds for Corban while going 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.

"Bri's nine rebounds and great post defense off the bench really helped us," said Pilgeram. "Treasure had another solid game running the point, while Emily and Jordan W had some very timely baskets."

Corban (10-8, 2-2 CCC) returns to the court tomorrow evening in Olympia for another Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) contest, taking on The Evergreen State College at 5:30 p.m.
