Warrior Women’s Basketball Edged by Pacific on the Road, 52-51

FOREST GROVE, Ore. Jordan Woodvine nailed the go-ahead bucket with 2.5 seconds remaining in regulation on Saturday night, but an offensive foul was called, leading to a 52-51 loss on the road for the Corban University women's basketball team against Pacific University.

"Once again, we dug ourselves a hole in the first half, and this time, we couldn't quite get all of the way out," said Corban head coach Bill Pilgeram. "I was proud of how we battled in the second half, but I need to do a better job of getting the team ready to play at the beginning, because when we play well for 40 minutes, we are a very tough out."

Corban made just six shots in the first 20 minutes, shooting 27.27% from the floor while scoring just 14 total points, leaving itself in a 16-point deficit at the break.

In the third quarter, the Warriors made up for that deficit quickly, pouring in 23 points while holding the Boxers to just 12 and trailed by only five heading to the fourth quarter.

In the final stanza, it was back and forth, and the Warriors tied the game with 30 seconds left on the clock on a perfect pass and a layup. The Boxers were fouled on the other end on a shot, however, and Pacific converted 1-of-2 free throws to take the lead.

All of that led to Woodvine receiving the inbounds pass, driving and scoring, only to see an offensive foul called to negate the go-ahead bucket, ending the game in the Boxer win.

Treasure Farmer led the way with 19 points, while Woodvine tallied 12 points for the Warriors and was the only other Corban player in double-figures.

Corban (6-4) returns to the hardwood next Saturday, when it hosts College of Idaho. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m.
