SALEM, Ore. – While celebrating senior night in Salem on Friday, the Corban University women's basketball team used a strong start and finish en route to winning a pivotal Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) contest over Warner Pacific, 71-61. The victory moves the Warriors into sixth place in the CCC standings with three games remaining for the Warriors in the regular season.

"What a great team win tonight and we were able to battle a tough Warner team," said Corban head coach Michelle Skyles. "I was proud that we were able to build leads and be able to thwart off every rally they had. I was proud of our players for staying strong on the boards and hitting key free throws."

After putting up 20 points in the first quarter while holding the Knights to just 11, the Warriors build the lead to 13 points by the break, keeping momentum heading into the second stanza.

In the second half, Warner Pacific made a number of runs to cut into the Warrior lead, but Corban had the answer time and time again, staving off the Knights to hold on for the 10-point triumph.

While celebrating Corban's Maci Bozett as the lone senior on the evening, Bozett racked up 17 points to lead the way, capitalizing at the free-throw line with a perfect 9-for-9 effort at the stripe. Also having a big game was rookie Shaelie Burgess, going 7-for-11 from the floor for 17 points and nine boards. In addition, Jordan Woodvine totaled 16 points, four steals, two blocks, and four boards, while Treasure Farmer chipped in a team-leading six assists in the triumph.

"It was another great performance for Maci, and to get a win for her on senior night was awesome," said Skyles. "Shaelie had a breakout performance tonight and another solid night for Jordan Woodvine as well to go with six big assists from Treasure."

In the loss, Shasta Lofgren and Deepika Kapil both finished with 11 points for the Knights. As a team, Warner Pacific shot just 31.0% from the field, while Corban shot at a more efficient clip, scoring 41.7% of its baskets on the night.

The Warriors (12-12, 8-9 CCC) return to action next weekend at Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech. Tipoff on Saturday and Sunday is slated for 4:30 p.m. both days.
