KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The (RV) Corban University baseball team fell behind in game one on Friday, but the Warriors stormed back to nab a 12-5 win over Oregon Tech in the opener. The Warriors fell in the nightcap, 12-2 (eight innings), however, resulting in the day-one split.
"The split today sets up tomorrow to go compete for a series win," said Corban head coach Derek Legg. "We are going to have to play more consistently for that to happen, but I'm looking forward to competing with the boys tomorrow."
After Oregon Tech held a 3-1 lead early, Corban retook the 4-3 lead in the fifth, but the Owls tied it up in the same frame, keeping it tight into the late innings. Corban exploded for one in the seventh, four in the eighth, and then three more in the ninth to secure the win.
Highlighting the late-inning fireworks was Andrew Axmaker's three-run home run in the ninth, capping off the seven-run triumph. Axmaker finished the ballgame 3-for-5 at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored, while Josh Ebert went 4-for-5 with three runs scored.
