Warrior Women’s Soccer Drops 1-0 Match against Raiders

ASHLAND, Ore. – Sunday's match against Southern Oregon University didn't go as planned for the Corban University women's soccer team, as the Warriors dropped their second-straight match on the road via a 1-0 score-line. And for the second-consecutive match, it was a late goal that ultimately led to the result.

"We had a hard time getting into the game in the first half," said Corban head coach Likius Hafeni. "We came out in the second half well, but could not get a goal. We conceded an unfortunate goal, and it was too late to get back into the game. We will try and win the rest of the games and see if we can finish as high as possible."

After a fairly uneventful first half, the Warriors looked to get things going in the second stanza, but struggled to break down the Raiders' defense.

Then in the 80th minute of play, Misty Martinez found the back of the net for SOU, and it turned out to be the only goal of the match in the win for SOU.

Corban (6-5, 3-3 CCC) returns to action next Saturday when it hosts Northwest Christian University. Kickoff is slated for 4:30 p.m. at the CFC Soccer Complex.
