OLYMPIA, Wash. – The (RV) Corban University volleyball team started out hot on Saturday evening, but The Evergreen State College stormed back and ultimately shocked the Warriors in four sets (17-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-23).
"It was a tough loss tonight," said Corban head coach Kim McLain. "We have to get better at making adjustments quickly, and eliminating the unforced errors! We come out ready to play, but must keep that same focus and determination throughout."
Unforced errors proved to be the difference on the night, as Corban totaled 32 of them compared to just 24 for the Geoducks. Corban hit for a .132 attack percentage, while Evergreen swung at a .158 clip. Additionally, one of the big differences was Evergreen at the net, as the Geoducks racked up 15 blocks to just nine for Corban.
Adriana Aguayo led the way with 13 kills offensively, while Avari Ridgway and Cassie Cunningham both provided 10 kills for the Navy and Gold.
Kealani Ontai totaled 25 digs defensively for the Warriors, while Cierra Leopoldino dished out 23 assists and Jadyn Mullen recorded 20.
The Warriors (7-6, 3-1 CCC) return to the hardwood next week at home when they host Northwest Christian University. First serve is slated for 7:30 p.m.
