LA GRANDE, Ore. – A big third quarter got the Corban university women's basketball team to within striking distance of No. 13 Eastern Oregon University on Friday night, but in the end, the Mountaineers were too much for the Warriors, handing Corban its third loss of the 2018-19 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) campaign in a 79-64 result
"We weren't quite the team we wanted to be tonight," said Corban head coach Bill Pilgeram. "We played a very good team and struggled to get momentum and a flow on offense. Still, we had the game down to a couple of possessions in the fourth quarter where we could have given ourselves a chance to win on the road."
A slow start in the first quarter put the Navy and Gold in an 11-point hole, and it was a 12-point deficit by halftime.
In the second half, the Warriors came out firing, scoring 23 points and made it a six-point game headed to the fourth quarter.
In that final stanza, however, EOU finished off Corban and sealed the 15-point win.
Treasure Farmer led the way with 13 points and eight assists for Corban, while Emily Yost totaled 10 points and a team-leading 13 boards. In addition, Jordan Rasberry was efficient from the field with 10 points on a 5-for-8 shooting mark.
Corban (13-7, 7-3 CCC) returns to the court tomorrow night in Idaho when the Warriors take on College of Idaho. Tipoff is slated for 4:30 p.m. PST.
