SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University women's basketball team started 2019 on a high note, handily defeating Warner Pacific University by a score of 74-55 in one of the squad's most impressive all-around performances of the season.

"We played a very physical game and did a great job on defense and rebounding," said head coach Bill Pilgeram. "It was a very good team performance and our depth really showed tonight."

The Warriors were able to limit the Knights to just a 31.3% shooting percentage from the field, while also winning the battle of the boards by a gaping 53-27 margin. Corban's 53 total boards mark the squad's highest tally of the 2018-19 season.

Jordan Woodvine provided her usual offensive excellence in the victory, ending the night with a game-high 26 points to go alongside eight rebounds and three assists. However, it was Bri Turner who perhaps provided the biggest spark of the night for the Warrior offense, coming off the bench to deliver a double-double, and finishing with season-best marks in points (12), rebounds (15), and minutes (20).

"Bri came off the bench and provided one of her best games of the season," added Pilgeram. "She finished around the rim, played great defense, and seemed to get every rebound around her."

Warner Pacific was spearheaded offensively by Allen Bailey, who notched 15 points and three rebounds in the defeat. Deepika Kapil also proved to be dangerous throughout the night, finishing in double digits with 11 points while adding adding four boards.  

For the Knights (8-5, 4-2 CCC), it is just their second loss of the season in Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) play. Despite a 1-2 start against conference competition, Corban has now rattled off three-consecutive CCC wins and is currently enjoying a four-game win streak overall.   

The Warriors (10-6, 4-2 CCC) will look to continue their success tomorrow, as they look ahead to a 5:30 p.m. home matchup against Multnomah University in another important CCC duel.
