Warrior Women’s Soccer Comes up on Short End of 1-0 Result Against OIT

SALEM, Ore. – At CFC Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon, the Corban women's soccer team suffered a hard fought 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Oregon Tech Hustlin' Owls.

Oregon Tech's single tally, scored late in the first half, was enough to earn the Hustlin' Owls another conference victory, which sends them to 6-0-2 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.

"It was a really difficult game today against one of the top teams in this league," said Warriors head coach Derek Faulkner. "They scored a pretty high-level goal in the first half and that was enough. I really thought that we moved the ball well in the first half, and still created some good chances in the second half, but that's the way that Soccer goes. There is more than one way to win a game, and we were just on the wrong side of it today."

The match was about as even as it could have possibly been, as each team registered 14 shots in the contest. Even so, the only goal that was scored came in the 37th minute on a brilliant volley by Kylie Cowell from the middle of the box off of a cross from Salyna Blue.

The Warriors searched for the equalizer from that point on, but came up empty. Annouscka Kordom and Rylee MacDonald led the Navy and gold in shots attempted, combining for nine of the 14 that were taken.

Elizabeth Brock had a strong match in net, having saved seven out of eight shots on goal. She falls to a 1-3 record on the season despite turning in a quality performance.

Corban now sits at 5-4-1 in CCC play, and will look to finish out the regular season on a winning note over the next two weekends. The Warriors will be pitted against Northwest Christian University on October 26 in Eugene, Ore., and then will polish off the regular season with a home match against Rocky Mountain College (Mont.) on November 3.
