KIRKLAND, Wash. – The (RV) Corban University women's basketball team bounced back in a big way on Saturday, earning a resounding 96-49 victory over Salish Kootenai College to leave the Northwest Classic with a two-game split. Corban never trailed in the contest.
"The team came out with great energy and played well together," said head coach Bill Pilgeram. "It was great to see the ball going in the basket."
The cold-shooting spell that hindered the Warriors yesterday was quickly forgotten on Saturday, with the team shooting at season-high marks of 49.3% from the field and 36.7% from downtown.
It was Lee Audrey Norris who appeared to spark the offensive revival, coming off the bench to rack up 29 points in the triumph. Norris added five boards to her stellar effort, going 9-of-15 from the floor and 7-for-13 from three-point range.
"Lee Audrey came off the bench to hit four threes in the first quarter and give us a big boost!" Pilgeram stated about Norris' performance.
The Warriors also relied heavily on their presence in the key, with Shaelie Burgess (14 points, six rebounds) and Bri Turner (13 points, six rebounds) both reaching double-digit scoring in the triumph.
Turnovers plagued Salish Kootenai, as Corban collected 18 steals in the contest. The Navy and Gold scored 36 points off turnovers.
The Warriors (2-1) will now begin preparation for an arduous three-game road swing in Montana next weekend. The squad will begin the trek east with a Friday afternoon battle against Montana State University-Northern, then proceeding to challenge Providence (November 16) and Montana State-Billings (November 18) before returning home.
