No. 24 Warrior Men’s Basketball Bounces Back at Walla Walla with 74-58 Victory

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – The No. 24-ranked Corban University men's basketball team would look to even the season series against the homestanding Walla Walla Wolves after a tough loss in overtime the previous day. The Warriors would assert themselves on the defensive end of the floor on Saturday night to earn a strong 74-58 triumph.

"We responded well from last night's tough loss and battled a physical Walla Walla team, said head coach Mitch Freeman. "We were able to get great contribution from our bench that gave us great momentum going into the half. We will need to get stronger defensively as we get deeper into conference play, but I think we are headed in the right direction."

Tyler Wadleigh (15) and Denis Kirichenko (14) spearheaded the effort from the Warrior offense that posted 74 points on 24-of-55 (43.6%) shooting. Eleven of the team's 24 makes were from outside, including three from Kirichenko and one from Wadleigh, as the Navy and Gold had a 36.7% three-point filed goal percentage in the bout.

Isiah Quintero posted a near double-double, tallying nine points and 11 boards (team-lead). Kirichenko also added seven boards to the Warrior rebounding effort.

The Navy and Gold were active on defense, as they earned 11 steals in the matchup, which allowed the Warriors to pick up 15 points off of turnovers by the Wolves.

After a strong showing the previous day, Walla Walla took a step back in this one, as they were only able to muster 58 points on 36.8% from the field. Zayne Browning had a game-high 22 points for the Wolves, as he was 8-of-18 shooting.

KiAndre Gaddy picked up a double-double, with 13 points and 11 rebounds (team-high). He shot at a 45.5% clip in the game.

Corban (7-6, 1-2 CCC), gets back on the winning track, and now are anticipating an exhibition matchup with Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Ore. on December 14. The Warriors will then come home for two CCC bouts with Northwest University and The Evergreen State College on December 20 and 21.
