PORTLAND, Ore. – The (RV) Corban University men's soccer team steamrolled the Multnomah University Lions on Saturday by a final tally of 8-0.
Six different Warriors were credited with goals in the match, while two of them notched two apiece.
Just 25 seconds into the match, Hakeem Smith scored a goal off of a beautiful assist from Charles Cleyton to open the parade of scores that would be had for the Navy and Gold on the day. Yuki Onishi was the next man to score. He found twine in the 9th minute to extend the Warrior lead to two. Matheus Giron scored the Warriors' next two goals in the 15th and 23rd minutes, the first of which was assisted by Camilo Avendano. That was the total in the first half, as the Warriors found themselves ahead of the Lions by a score of 4-0 at the half.
Among other things, Corban proved that they are as consistent as teams come. The Warriors put up 4 goals in each of the two halves in Saturday's contest, as Avendano and Onishi fired howitzers past the Lions' goalkeeper Jose David Lopez. Charles Cleyton was credited with the final individual goal, and the eighth goal of the contest was credited to the whole Corban team.
When all was said and done, the Warriors had put up 41 shots in the game as opposed to Multnomah's three. The Navy and Gold had 25 of those shots threaten the net as shots on goal.
Justin Keegan had a clean-sheet in the match, as he picks up his second collegiate win as a keeper.
The Warriors are set to continue their road slate in Kirkland and Olympia, Wash. on October 4 and 5. They will take on Northwest University and The Evergreen State College and attempt to continue piling on the conference wins.
