Ridgway Shines as No. 11 Corban Volleyball Sweeps Warner Pacific

PORTLAND, Ore. – The No. 11 Corban University volleyball team finished off the Knights of Warner Pacific University on Saturday night in three sets (25-17, 26-24, 25-10).

Sans the second set, this match was not close, as the Warriors allowed a slight surge from the Knights in that stanza, but managed to pull it out.

Avari Ridgway had a career night in the win. She had a match-high 17 kills in just 28 chances and only had three attacking errors. That is good for a .500 hitting percentage, an unheard of ratio.

Kealani Ontai picked up 17 digs in the match to lead the team, and Jadyn Mullen had a match-high 23 assists, which more than easily set up Ridgeway for her huge night.

Sarena Bartley added nine kills of her own while hitting at a .389 clip, and Cierra Leopoldino's 10 assists were the second-highest amount for the Navy and Gold.

Grace Buchanan of WPU came up with 12 kills in the bout, while hitting at a steady .300 clip. Matalasi Laban was an all-around table-setter for the Knights, as she had 16 assists and 12 digs in the contest.

On Friday, October 4, the Warriors will hit the road again and travel down south to Eugene to face the Beacons of Northwest Christian University. This will be the first weekend of the season that the Navy and Gold do not have a weekend doubleheader. However, on the next weekend the Warriors will be playing three games in as many days on the road at Walla Walla University on Thursday, Eastern Oregon University on Friday, and College of Idaho on Saturday. Corban will look to use the coming single-game weekend to rest up for a grueling road slate ahead.
