(RV) Corban Women’s Hoops Rides Strong Third Quarter to 73-65 Win over Evergreen

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Trailing by seven at the half, the (RV) Corban University women's basketball team turned in a dominant display in the third quarter, outscoring The Evergreen State College by a 26-10 margin. The third-quarter blitz would vault the Navy and Gold back into the lead for good, as the Warriors held on for a 73-65 victory on the road.

"Conference road games are never easy," said head coach Bill Pilgeram. "It took all 40 minutes, but we were finally able to sustain some momentum in the second half. Now we have to turn the corner quickly as we take on another dangerous team tomorrow night in Northwest University."

At the end of 10 minutes, the two Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) foes were neck and neck, separated by just a point. The Geoducks opened the second quarter with a 13-2 run, however, propelling them to a 36-29 lead at the midway mark.

It took just four minutes for the Warriors to erase that deficit, as the squad missed just four of its shots from the floor during the 26-point third quarter. Jordan Woodvine scored 11 of her 31 total points in the stanza, and Shawnie Spink rained down three triples.

From there, the Warriors never looked back, holding on to seal yet another crucial victory in conference play.

Woodvine continues to add to her incredible farewell campaign, matching her season high with 31 points, while also adding eight boards. Putting on a clinic for efficiency, she went 11-for-17 from the floor and 4-of-5 from long range.

It's a new career best in scoring for Spink, who ended the night with 17 points (5-of-10 FG, 5-of-9 3PT) and four assists.

In the paint, Shaelie Burgess reached double figures with 12 points, while Kendra Murphy (seven points) led all performers with a game-high 15 boards.

Anna Cook's double-double (20 points, 11 rebounds) wasn't enough for the Geoducks, who fall to 4-11 (4-8 CCC) with the defeat.

The Warriors (13-7, 9-3 CCC) will be right back at it tomorrow evening, heading to Kirkland, Wash. for a duel with Northwest University at 5:30 p.m.
