Warrior Women’s Soccer Sets Record with 14-0 Victory over Multnomah

SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University women's soccer team etched out a piece of history on Saturday evening under the lights of the CFC Soccer Complex, scoring 14 times en route to a 14-0 rout of Multnomah University. Not only is that the most goals ever scored in a single match by the program, but it is also the most goals ever scored in a Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) match.

"It was a great performance today," said director of soccer Tim Kagey. "It was great to find the back of the net as much as we did. We are looking forward to carrying the momentum into next weekend."

Corban out-shot the Lions 42 (27 on frame) to one in the victory, putting together one of the most complete and dominant team performances in the program's history.

Perhaps just as impressive as the total scoring output was the diverse array of contributors to the Navy and Gold's offense, as seven different Warriors found the back of the net, and six different members of the team garnered an assist.

Among those, Maria-Frances Serrant (22', 43', 69') and Juliana Pires (34', 54', 64') were the headliners, putting up otherworldly numbers to spearhead the attack. Both of the Warrior standouts earned a hat trick on Saturday, while Serrant assisted three goals and Pires assisted a pair of scores.

Aubrey Smith (10', 51'), Mei Suetsugu (31', 70'), and Jamine Biava (49', 62') each earned a brace in the victory, while Biava also played a crucial role in setting up a pair of goals for her teammates.

Corban's other two tallies came from Klarissa Barajas—who headed in a ball from close range to make it a 2-0 lead in the 15th minute—and Chanel Garcia—who headed in a brilliant ball from Pires back in the 29th minute.

Moe Sato and Anabel Lin were the other two Warriors to be credited with an assist in the triumph, as 23 different Warriors saw the pitch in the total team effort.

Overshadowed by the offensive success was the team's defensive performance, which limited an opponent to a single-digit shot count for the fifth time already this season. Makida Herbert was only tested once all evening, but the sophomore goalkeeper from Trinidad and Tobago ended the night with her fifth shutout of the 2021 fall campaign.

With a pair of clean sheets and a historic offensive performance under their belt, the Warriors end their home-opening weekend on a high note, and will look to continue their success as they turn their focus to a challenging upcoming weekend series.

Corban (7-2, 3-2 CCC) will host Northwest University and Evergreen State next weekend at the CFC Soccer Complex, kicking off the battle with the Eagles at 3 p.m. and starting Saturday's match against the Geoducks at 6 p.m.
