Stuart Eagon Joins Warrior T&F, XC Staff as Distance Coach

SALEM Ore. – Corban University head track & field and cross country coach Todd Bos announced on Monday that Stuart Eagon is joining the Warrior coaching staff, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to Corban's distance training.

Eagon served as an assistant distance coach at Beaverton High School from 2010-12, coaching the boy's cross country team to a top-five finish at the Oregon 6A Meet in 2010, while also mentoring an individual state champion and two state runner-up finishers in track.

Prior to this, Eagon attended NCAA Division I University of Wisconsin, where he was a four-time All-American in cross country, an All-American in both indoor and outdoor track, and was a member of the school's 2005 NCAA Championship team in cross country and the 2007 NCAA Championship team in indoor track. He ranks in the school's top ten all-time in the indoor 3,000 and 5,000, having run personal bests of 7:54.09 and 13:38.31.

While at Wisconsin, Eagon trained under legendary distance coach Jerry Schumacher, who is currently the head coach of the Bowerman Track Club's professional team and is widely regarded as one of the top distance coaches in the entire country. Schumacher has worked with 19 athletes who have made Olympic or World Championship teams, and five athletes who have set American records.

A native Oregonian, Eagon still ranks in the top ten on the state's all-time high school list in the 3,000. While competing for Beaverton High School, he finished eighth at the Foot Locker National Cross Country Championships and fourth in the two mile at the Adidas Outdoor National Track Championships.

"I'm very grateful that coach Bos and Corban University have opened the door for me to serve distance runners as they train and compete in 'working for the Lord, not for human masters,' " said Eagon, "Honoring God through running as an extension of their faith in Christ."
