No. 6 Corban Volleyball Keeps Rolling with Straight-Set Victory over C of I

SALEM, Ore. – On the heels of last night's down-to-the-wire victory, the No. 6-ranked Corban University volleyball team left little room for drama in a straight-set triumph over College of Idaho on Saturday evening (25-18, 25-11, 25-16).

The Warriors sweep a pivotal weekend of Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) competition, extending their historic winning streak to 19-consecutive matches.

"It was great to start the second half of CCC play with two wins against two very talented and well-coached teams," said head coach Kim McLain. "Tonight, we started the first set a little tense, but once we settled in, we were able to serve and pass well, which helped us both offensively and defensively."

The Warriors got off to a shaky start in the match, trailing for the first half of the opening set. Down 13-11, the Navy and Gold went on a crucial five-point run to claim its first lead, and the squad never looked back from there, going on to earn a 25-18 triumph in the stanza.

Corban would never trail after that, earning comfortable wins in sets two (25-11) and three (25-16) en route to its 14th sweep of the season.

As a team, the Warriors attacked just under the .300 plateau, hitting at a .293 clip on Saturday evening.

Avari Ridgway shouldered the load offensively for the squad, as the reigning NAIA All-American notched a game-high 11 kills on a stellar .320 attack percentage. Rylee Troutman notched eight kills of her own, hitting at a .200 mark.

Splitting the setting duties, Jadyn Mullen dished out 15 assists and Ciarra Judson ended the night just behind her with 14.

On the defensive end, Troutman's 10 digs led the way for Corban, while libero Kealani Ontai and Ridgway each registered nine.

For the Yotes, Jade Warren led the way, finishing with a .467 hitting percentage and a team-leading eight putaways.

Corban (19-0, 13-0 CCC) will hit the road for a midweek matchup with Bushnell University (14-3, 10-3 CCC) on Tuesday evening (October 12). The Beacons are in the middle of one of their most successful starts in program history, tied for third place in the CCC standings.

First serve in the must-watch duel between Interstate-5 rivals is currently slated for 7 p.m. in Eugene.
